This isn't really so much a technical write-up, but just some photos of the in-car video camera mount that I fabricated.  I can't take credit for the idea of this camera mount, since I've seen several write-ups for this on the internet.  I originally used a mini tripod ball mount head, but it wasn't strong enough to hold the camera in place during cornering at the autocross events.  It also allowed a lot of chatter when the car was at a stand still and while moving, so I upgraded the tripod head to a Bogen 3025 adjustable mount which is a much better solution.  The increased weight of the Bogen mount cuts down the vibration and chatter to almost nothing.  I'm very happy with this setup.
